CFMOTO MT Challenge 2026 results: Guatemala takes the title
Team Guatemala is the new CFMOTO MT Challenge champion after winning the second Global Final in southern Spain. Team Spain finished runner-up on home ground, while Team France took the remaining podium place.
The team podium was:
- Team Guatemala
- Team Spain
- Team France

Guatemala follows Team New Zealand, which won the inaugural final in Melbourne, Australia, in 2025. This year's European edition brought together nearly 200 participants, organisers and CFMOTO staff.
The 20 teams each consisted of four motorcyclists, with riders of different ages, genders and skill levels. Finalists reached Spain through regional qualifiers across Asia, Latin America and Europe.

Individual awards recognised skill and team spirit
Khoun-Sith Vongsana of Team France and Franklin Noguera of the Dominican Republic received the overall MT Master awards. The two riders also collected Best Technique honours across three designated challenges.

Roberto Ungaro of Team Italy received Best MT Spirit, an award recognising perseverance, passion, positive energy and teamwork. That distinction fitted an event where helping your teammates mattered alongside your own riding performance.
Day one: technical riding at Monteblanco Circuit
The opening day's Venue Challenge used ten stations in the off-road area of Monteblanco Circuit. Rather than rewarding a heavy throttle hand alone, the tasks tested balance, precision, judgement and control.

If you enjoy the technical side of adventure riding, this was the part of the programme with plenty to unpack: loose sand, tight turns and even a challenge in which the rider could not see the course.
SENA Blindfold Challenge: trust your teammate

Returning from the 2025 edition, the SENA Blindfold Challenge required a teammate to guide a blindfolded rider using only voice instructions through a SENA intercom. Clear communication was central to the task; the rider had to rely on someone else's directions to negotiate the course.
TAI CHI Challenge: direction changes on loose sand
CFMOTO's TAI CHI Challenge used a giant Yin-Yang-shaped circular track. Riders entered its centre, reversed direction mid-course and had to maintain control and speed through the bends before exiting. The loose sandy surface added another demand to a task built around directional control and adaptability.

Natural terrain, figure eights and sand crossings
The Natural Extreme Trial used Monteblanco's terrain for an enduro-style test. The Figure 8 Plus Challenge focused on balance and manoeuvring, while the Sand Crossing Challenge tested control on a softer surface. Together, these tasks demanded several different skills rather than one repeatable trick.

Day two: navigation and teamwork beyond the circuit
The second day took riders beyond Monteblanco onto a course divided by checkpoints, with varying distances, terrain and obstacles. Navigation and broader adventure-riding skills came into play, alongside endurance, concentration and planning.

One section, the Time Gap Challenge, measured the difference between the finishing times of two riders selected by each team. It added another team-based element to a day that asked more of competitors than outright pace.
For an adventure rider, that combination is the interesting bit: choosing your way through a route, managing changing ground and working with another rider were all part of the competition.
CFMOTO 1000MT-X replaces the 800MT-X as the competition bike

The CFMOTO 1000MT-X was the motorcycle used for the 2026 final, taking over from the 800MT-X ridden in Australia the previous year. CFMOTO selected its flagship adventure model for both the technical venue tasks and the longer riding stages.
The equipment listed for the competition model included:

- Rider-adjustable power and 4+1 riding modes.
- Traction control.
- Adjustable suspension.
- A 22.5-litre saddle fuel tank.
- Handguards and a skid plate.
- Pirelli all-terrain tyres.
The programme gave the bike a varied assignment: tight manoeuvres and low-speed control on day one, followed by more open trails and navigation on day two.

A new MT Dream Team—and a focus on shared adventure
A new addition for 2026 was the MT Dream Team, a quartet of professional riders led by CFMOTO brand ambassador and racing expert Mario Román Serrano. They joined the activities and provided a benchmark for the finalists.
Before the final, Markus Ferch, CFMOTO's VP of Sales Europe, explained the thinking behind the event:

“We wanted to bring MT owners together to experience what the motorcycles can truly do, to take on new challenges and to share the adventure with not only the other finalists but online throughout the world.”
Guatemala left with the title, but the format gave the wider field more than a results sheet to chase. Technical riding, route-finding and teamwork all had their place. If your idea of adventure riding includes improving your skills and sharing the experience, that is a more interesting proposition than a simple dash to the finish.
