Where the Geely EX2 comes from

This is not an unknown new model. Sold as the E2 in some markets and the EX2 in the UK, it is already available in more than 30 markets, with global sales exceeding 800,000 cars in 664 days.
“Entering Europe’s B-segment electric-car market, the Geely E2 combines a spacious cabin and generous standard technology with an accessible price. In 2025, it was recognised as the world’s best-selling car in its segment.” — Aiden He, CEO, Geely Brand Europe
Its styling was developed by teams in China and Italy. The EX2 uses Geely’s own GEA (Global Intelligent Architecture) platform, while Geely Technology Europe contributed to suspension tuning for European roads.

Put simply, the 156-mile Pro is aimed at urban use and everyday commuting. If you expect to make regular trips beyond town, the Max or Ultra is the more convincing choice thanks to its larger battery and up-to-214-mile WLTP range.
Charging
- Pro: DC rapid charging at up to 60 kW
- Max and Ultra: DC rapid charging at up to 80 kW
- 30 to 80% in around 25 minutes. Geely notes that charging times vary with the version, charger and conditions.
On the Max and Ultra, a 30–80% charge represents half the battery, or roughly 107 miles of WLTP range. Expect less in everyday use, particularly in winter and at motorway speeds. We will reserve judgement until we have driven it.
How it should drive
Most B-segment electric cars are front-wheel drive. The EX2 sends power to the rear wheels in every version, and it has independent multi-link rear suspension. Geely says this brings more stability through corners and under acceleration, plus greater comfort over rough surfaces. It sounds promising on paper, but the real verdict will come on Britain’s potholes and broken B-roads.
For urban driving, useful features include:
- a 4.95-metre turning radius, making U-turns and tight parking manoeuvres easier,
- a 360-degree camera with transparent chassis view on the Ultra, showing the area around the car and beneath it,
- a 36.8-metre stopping distance from 62 mph.
Safety
The EX2 has earned a maximum five-star Euro NCAP rating. It was assessed under the stricter 2026 protocol, and every version comes with seven airbags.
Interior, infotainment and storage

Infotainment runs on Flyme Auto. The central interface handles navigation, music, phone functions, apps, vehicle settings and climate control. It supports 14 languages, offers voice control and receives over-the-air software updates.
There is also entertainment across six categories: music, audiobooks and other audio content, video, games, news and karaoke.
For a car measuring 4.13 metres long, the EX2 makes good use of its footprint:
- a 70-litre front boot, ideal for charging cables,
- a 375-litre rear boot, expanding to 1,320 litres with the 60:40 rear seats folded,
- 36 storage areas in the cabin, including an optional 28-litre box beneath the rear seats.
Who is the Geely EX2 for?
- Drivers looking for a first EV at a relatively accessible price.
- Families wanting a second car for town runs, commuting and shopping trips, while the motorcycle gets the weekend miles.
- Buyers who want a small hatchback with a useful boot and a strong independent safety rating.
For long journeys with panniers, luggage and a trailer, a larger SUV will make more sense. The EX2 instead faces city-focused B-segment electric cars such as the Renault 5 E-Tech, Citroën ë-C3, BYD Dolphin Surf and Hyundai Inster.
What we still do not know
- full UK warranty terms for the car and battery,
- the complete equipment list for every trim and option pack,
- how the EX2 performs in real-world British weather and motorway driving.
We will update this article when further official details and road-test results are available.
